Wandering Thoughts....
Like Cassandra, helpless and disempowered, I am watching the harrowing darkness descend upon our world. Greed, hate, anger, and fear have taken over the 'better angels' of our souls and left us with a deep sense of loss.. And if we fail to avoid the pending disaster, I fear we will bury our own civilization into ground. What will we leave behind once we destroyed all that we have created over the centuries...And what will remain of us...? Of our virtual world...?
For the last 2-300 hundred years, humanity experienced a huge leap in science. Especially over the last hundred and fifty years, we have learned and invented so much more than we did over the 1000 years perhaps. The greatest libraries are all virtual now, captured in a time-space continuum that is neither here nor there, but only in the barzakh between real and non-real. We store our images, stories and dreams in a void..We have created realities and captured images of people and places on film and stored their voices first on vinyl, then on tape, CDs, and now on flash-drives. We have loaded tiny flash drives with enormous amounts of data. Soon we will be able to record information on perhaps tiny crystals that we can carry on our wrists. We have put the world into our phones and we can now retrieve any information, any image and talk and see people where ever they are in the world.
But once it all stops, perhaps due to a natural disaster or a human made catastrophe, what will remain behind us for future generations to find and discover about us? Our most important scientific, philosophical, and even political accomplishments will vanish with time and no one will ever remember any of us really. If anything, reality will be so distorted and so corrupted that it will be turned into myths and fairy tales. Perhaps it will even inspire a new religion: who knows?….
It gives me such profound sorrow that all that we are recording in this virtual world will be eventually lost and as our machines and computers turn into dust, nothing of our civilization will remain.
Perhaps all of this happened before and that our ancestors have invented amazing civilizations and had recorded amazing amounts of information like we do now for over 10000 years ago. As the age of our planet continues to amazes me, it would not surprise me to find out that human beings have been on this route before and had created amazing worlds and wonders. That, they were once technologically very advanced and this is not our first time around… Some of the mythical stories talk about amazing flying machines, incredible weapons and knowledge that we do not comprehend yet. But these stories are probably long forgotten and nothing remains from them except some artifacts we cannot even understand what they are now.
All these might sound crazy to our ears, I always enjoyed such mysteries and wanted to find out there is more to this life and to this world than we can see. I have sought knowledge and meaning all my life and often feel disappointed with the lameness and meaninglessness of everything that seems to be going on in the world. It saddens me to see our era has increasingly become devoid of soul, spirit and magic. We no longer seem to believe in the possibility of things beyond human beings. Humanism has taken root like a venomous parasite that devours the life out of the trunk of the tree.
The magical universe and the divine have been ejected from our reality and we are left only with our own mental faculties. According to this view, once we are dead all that we know, all that we see and feel will disappear and we will be lost forever, as we are only function of our brain activity. This feels so real and so convincing: all those near death experiences, or sensing a connection with things broader than ourselves is seen as a psychological mechanism to find meaning and to cope with our inevitable mortality. Those who are dead are dead forever. Their souls do not exist and once gone, they are gone eternally.
Then, I read about rare people like Nikola Tesla, whose mind was working in such an extra-ordinary way that he could see, visualize and feel almost things other could not even comprehend. His mental faculties are so incredibly special and rare that it makes me wonder why very few people are bestowed with such amazing qualities. How does their brain work? Can that talent be harnessed, or must we be born with it? Who else was born with these qualities but never had the opportunity to share them with us? Many artists, musicians were gifted with amazing talents that only they could experience…
Then I think about all those ideas, thoughts, sounds, and images Tesla would have thought, read or imagined that we will never know… Where do they go, those thoughts, images, sound and ideas?
And Ibni Arabi: the things he have experienced and saw and the creative imagination he was able to tap into….
Some argue that we could all tap into those realms of reality; that we all have the potential to harness those qualities. We only have to turn our inner gaze to our own Divinity…
Then I read about the current state of the art in physics. While I do not understand them all, I sometimes feel and see some of those ideas myself…. But I do not know what I see or what I think…
Then I think about the current state of the world: so despicable… So wretched… We waste so much time, money, resources and human lives for control and power. We waste so much of our energy for hate and destruction and for petty ambitions instead of creating beauty and spending our energy to understand creation. We forget that we are ephemeral beings soon we will all turn into dust. And when we do turn into dust, our accomplishments will all be forgotten.
We kill in the name of God, nation or our righteousness instead of turning our gaze to uncovering the mysteries that were created for us to decipher.
I spend so much time trying to find ways to stop this madness. I spend so much energy to find ways to respond to the problems that are created because of greed and the unjust systems aimed to serve a select group of people. And the more I try to do that the more I become frustrated at the futility of the endeavor.
I rather spend my time learning about the wonders of creation and the knowledge hidden. I rather learn about the building blocks of the universe and the magic of life. I rather focus my attention to the workings of the Universes out there, which we are an integral part of. I rather turn my gaze into my Divine Self and to be connected with all the life forms we have yet to discover.
I let my imagination flow. In my imagination I visit worlds beyond our world and meet creatures that have no name in our world. In my imagination I enter the realms that store all the knowledge, technology and art that is yet to be grabbed and brought back to our sphere of existence. In these realms past present and future are all one.
Then, I run into the labyrinths of my unconscious mind where venomous fears and anxieties have been planted throughout my life. These fears and anxieties often hinder me in my path of becoming.
Let me be submerged into my unconsciousness to cleanse it from all the toxic energies that have blurred its vision and darkened my soul. Once I have cleansed my soul from the vile darkness that consumes all light I will be free to wander through time and space. Then, watch me reverse the Sun and turn back the unremitting time… Watch me reach into the black hole to recover the lost hopes of those who left us before their time. Watch me collect the silvery tears of angels as they weep for our sins. And watch me flourish with joy and ecstasy as I return back with renewed hope and inspiration.
